Escentric 01 focuses on Iso E Super at 65% of the fragrance compound in an abbreviated formula designed to maximise the molecule’s efflorescence. It also contains lime peel, hedione (green jasmine bud), orris, balsamic notes, and fresh musk. X

The molecule Ambroxan has a subtle sensual quality with a radiant, long-lasting dry-down. Escentric 02 contains 13.5% Ambroxan in a formula designed to amplify its mineral note. It also contains hedione (green jasmine bud), a ‘gin and tonic’ accord, together with a hint of lemonade. A so-wearable cult classic. X

Vertiveryle acetate, a refined vetiver note, is celebrated at its purest in Molecule 03. Through a complicated chemical process the darker and smokier shades of vetiver oil are removed, leaving a smooth, woody and slightly grassy smell.

Escentric 03 is a tribute to the more familiar side of vetiver, through its dark, slightly exotic woodiness. The fragrance opens with a burst of freshness - the ginger root is joined by top notes of green peppercorn and Mexican lime. The heart of orris is surrounded by Egyptian jasmine and soft tea notes. Then, at the base of the fragrance, the slightly bitter notes of vetiver are smoothed by rich amber shades of sandalwood, cedar, leather and musk.

The overall impression is spicy but fresh with warm balsamic undertones, like a traditional Chypre. It’s sensuous without sweetness, which is a signature of perfumer Geza Schoen. And, because this maverick creator also excels at unexpected associations, you may even detect a fugitive tang of ginger ale.

Launched in April 2017 Molecule 04 contains Javanol, a sheer sandalwood Molecule that radiates freshness, with a grapefruit edge! Javanol was created from a natural substance in a laboratory at Givuadan in 2001. X

Javanol is a sandalwood-type molecule that retains the radiance and endurance of natural sandalwood, but is sheer and transparent like no sandalwood in nature.

Escentric 04 focuses on Javanol in a formula that highlights the grapefruit accent in the molecule. The result is a uniquely fresh interpretation of a sandalwood fragrance, fizzing with crisp, bitter topnotes of pink grapefruit peel with added zest of lime. Juniper and pink pepper give an extra shot of freshness, and marijuana brings out the softer quality of the grapefruit pith.

As perfumer Geza Schoen says of the ingredient around which he has woven this scent, ‘Cashmeran is dry, radiant, warm and woody with an unexpected touch of pine resin‘. It has been used in Escentric 05 to create an alternative summer fragrance, developed to transport you to a Mediterranean island… Um, yes please! X
